We are currently hiring for our 2011-2012 winter season. We have both full and part time positions available during both day and night shifts.  Our winter season typically starts around mid-November and runs to mid-April. Most positions require that you work both weekends and holidays.  We encourage you to submit your completed application as soon as possible, prior to the Job Fair.

Applications may be submitted for positions within the following departments:

  • Ticket Department – guest services agent
  • Rental Shop Department – shift manager, cashier, ski technician, boot fitter, ski check
  • Lift Department – lift operator (18 yrs old), ticket checker
  • Snowtubing Park – tow operators (18 yrs old), attendants
  • Mountain Department – lift mechanic, grooming supervisor
  • Terrain Park – terrain park attendant
  • Base Area – parking lot crew, ticket checker, shuttle driver, bus driver
  • Ski Patrol – patroller
  • Food and Beverage Department – cook, cashier, bartender, barista
  • Housekeeping (Collins Lake Resort) – housekeeper
  • Maintenance (Collins Lake Resort) – maintenance

Our winter Job Fair is scheduled for Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 9 am to 3 pm at the Starlight Lodge located in the Skibowl West base area. Onsite interviews will be available. We enourange you to bring a completed application with you, or preferrably submit it prior to October 22.  The length of time spent at the Job Fair will vary based on the turnout and the position(s) for which you are applying. Please come prepared to present yourself in a professional manner.

History

Mt Hood Skibowl has a long & storied history. The area held some of the earliest organized events on Mt. Hood, including a jumping event for the National Ski Association in 1929. Kirk Hanna purchased Skibowl out of bankruptcy in 1987 & has operated it longer than any owner. Hanna revolutionized the area by developing an extensive summer Adventure Park, allowing for a year-round, stable workforce & hedging against mother nature. Skibowl prides itself in being a “family” resort. Our employees work together & help out other departments, keeping us flexible & innovative. With this business model & mindset, we all have a bright future!

Work

Working on the mountain is a fun, unique & memorable experience. Each employee plays a vital role in our daily operations. The success of you & your teammates depends on each employee being on time, working their scheduled shift, & taking the initiative to help out wherever needed. Be prepared to work in all weather conditions.

Housing

There are private rentals in Government Camp & the Welches area. The Summit Apartments in Government Camp are a great option for those who meet income requirements. Ask our HR department for more information.

Grooming

Our employees are in constant contact with our guests. Your attitude & appearance reflect upon Skibowl, so we expect a high standard of personal appearance. Dreadlocks are not acceptable as a hairstyle and are not allowed.

Terms & Conditions

The employer-employee relationship at Skibowl is “at-will.” This means that an employee has the right to resign at any time, with or without cause. It also means that Skibowl has the right to terminate an employee at any time, with or without cause. Former employees who left the company in good standing & wish to be considered for employment should contact their supervisor prior to the operating season. Annual re-hiring of seasonal employees is not guaranteed. Any employee who is discharged from Skibowl is ineligible for re-hire.

You will be in constant contact with the guest. Your attitude & appearance reflect upon the ski area, so we expect a high standard of personal appearance. Attire must be kept clean and neat at all times. Management will evaluate the appearance of prospective employees.
