Northwest Cup #4 Downhill Mountain Bike Race

Northwest Cup #4 Downhill Mountain Bike Race

Enjoy a weekend of thrills as the NW Cup tour shifts gears for round four at the Mt. Hood Adventure Park at Skibowl June 21-23.

Top cash prizes include a $500 prize for 1st place men, and $250 for 1st place women, plus a raffle of great prizes for all.  The band VIASOL will bring their local inspiring music to the event on Saturday, June 22nd from noon to 3:00pm at the Outback Grill at the Skibowl West base area.   Food and drink specials will be available all weekend.

Spectators are welcome and encouraged to watch as PRO/CAT I contestants race from the peak of Skibowl at 5,100 feet, down the Cannonball run, reaching speeds up to 50 mph, then through the technical Woods trail, finishing at the Skibowl West base area.  If you have never seen a downhill mountain bike race, this is an awsome opportunity to see some crazy people race down a mountain on two wheels!  Non racers can enjoy the over 20 attractions at the Adventure Park during their weekend stay.

Friday race training is from 2:00pm to 6:00pm for all categories.  Training Saturday is from 10:00am to 2:00pm for CAT II/III and 2pm to 6pm for PRO/CAT I.  Sunday training is from 9am to 10am, with the race starting at 11am.  Awards will follow the last PRO rider to finish the course and will be presented at the Outback Grill.  Racers can register online and get full details at skibowl.com.  There will be a showing of mountain bike videos Friday and Saturday evenings at the Ratskeller Bar and Pizzeria along with great food and drink specials.  The Ratskeller is located in the heart of Government Camp.

The Mt. Hood Adventure Park at Skibowl was one of the first areas in the nation to provide lift assisted mountain biking.  That tradition continues today, 25 years later, with over 40 miles of trails accessed by two chairlifts.  Bike and helmet rentals are available on site.

Three more races are scheduled for this summer including the Six hours of Skibowl mountain bike endurance race June 30, 2013; The Northwest Cup # 5 downhill mountain bike race July 12-14, 2013; and the Mountain Bike downhill finals race, September 21, 2013.

Shred on!
