Terry Richards from the Oregonian visits Skibowl

Terry Richard of the Oregonian paid a visit to the Mt. Hood Adventure Park at Skibowl, below is the article from his day of fun!

The faster your go, the more breeze you create, right? That seemed to be the philosophy of this youngster in the lead photo, because he was clipping along pretty good on Mt. Hood Skibowl's alpine slide.

The slide is not a race course, and riders need to maintain control, but it looked like he knew what he was doing and had a clear track ahead.

Mt. Hood Adventure Park at Skibowl is celebrating its 26th year of summer fun and is now operating seven days a week through Labor Day and weekends in September.

How busy do you think it will be this weekend, when the temperatures for Portland are forecast for the mid-90s. Government Camp should be in the low to mid-80s? There always seems to be a cooling mountain breeze, whether you make it yourself or not.

Attractions during summer at Mt. Hood Skibowl include the Northwest's only half-mile dual alpine slide, plus chairlift-served mountain bike trails, at Skibowl West. Skibowl East has many more attractions, including Malibu Raceway, freefall bungee tower, horseback and pony rides, bungee trampolines, more than 20 in all.

New this season, according to resort spokesman Hans Wipper, is five-person bungee trampoline, a second Aqua Rollers pond, and the new Malibu Raceway.  The raceway has two competitive tracks – one for the Sprint cars and one for the Virage Indy cars.  The Virage Indy cars are high-powered machines that are a 7/10th scale replica of the real Indy cars.  The Sprint cars offer wheel-to-wheel racing in a classic car.  With single or two-seaters available, family and friends can enjoy being on the track together.

Operating hours for the Mt. Hood Adventure Park at Skibowl are Monday-Thursday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday 11 a.m.  to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Mt. Hood Adventure Park at Skibowl operates weather permitting. Go to skibowl.com for updated operating schedules and pricing.  Skibowl is a 50-mile drive east of Portland on U.S. 26 in Government Camp.
