3rd Annual Warm Springs Tribal Celebration at Skibowl
On September 28, 2013 the Warm Springs Tribes will celebrate the footprints of their ancestors during the 3rd Annual Warm Springs Tribal Celebration at Skibowl.
You are cordially invited to come and share in the celebration of the return of the Warm Springs people to a part of their original homeland. Even though the Warm Springs Tribes were guaranteed by treaty the right to use the lands now known as Government Camp, Oregon, the Tribes have, until now, been denied full access. On September 28th the Warm Springs Tribal horse riders and guests will ride into the west base area of Mt. Hood Skibowl in celebration of the return to their native lands on Mount Hood.
This historic celebration is in support of the Tribes’ Mt. Hood Tribal Heritage Center established in 2012.
The event will last all day with Traditional Warm Springs Tribes’ Pow Wow festivities, including Tribal drumming, Tribal dancing, a “live” Tribal village and Warm Springs Tribal members’ vendor booths of beadwork, basket weaving and other native cultural activities. The event will begin around 11AM and last all day long.
