300 Acre Outback is OPEN!

300 Acre Outback is OPEN!

America’s Largest Night Ski Area is happy to announce the earliest opening in years of its legendary 300 acre Outback terrain.

“Our professional Ski Patrol has been working overtime along with our snow groomers to get the earliest opening of the Outback in many years” said Kirk Hanna, owner of Mt. Hood Skibowl.

With 12 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours, 20 inches in the past 72 hours and over 40 inches this past week, there is a lot of powder to be had at Skibowl.  It is currently still snowing and the NOAA forecast is calling for up to another 16 inches of new snow by Saturday!

All that new snow is waiting for skiers and snowboarders.  The Outback terrain has some of the best gladed terrain and powder stashes on Mt. Hood, along with chutes and runs with great views of Mt. Hood.  The Outback terrain is for experts only, please always ski or ride with a buddy and ride within your ability level.

Skibowl is in full holiday operation now through January 6th, opening at 9:00am midweek and 8:00am on the weekends.  Skibowl is open every night until 10:00pm, 11:00pm on Friday and Saturday.  Christmas Eve will close at 4:00pm so our employees can enjoy time with their families.  The Skibowl East Snow Tube and Adventure Park is open every day at 10:00am to 5:00pm for tubing, and Frosty’s Playland, with Cosmic Tubing and Ziplining open from 6:00pm to 10:00pm – 11:00pm on Saturday.

Celebrate New Year’s Eve with the best party on the mountain.  Skibowl will celebrate 25 years of its legendary midnight fireworks extravaganza with a host of events, including skiing/riding until 2:00am, Fireworks at Skibowl West and East, Cosmic Tubing until midnight, a torchlight parade down the Lower Bowl, live DJ’s, multiple beer gardens plus much more.

Please visit www.skibowl.com or call 503-222-BOWL (2695) for more details and information on the operating schedule, pricing and the New Year’s Eve celebration.  Mt. Hood Skibowl is the closest ski resort to Portland, less than an hour east on Highway 26 in Government Camp.
