King and Queen of the Mountain to be crowned April 6th and split a $2,000 purse in a unique race for experienced skiers and riders

Who are the King and Queen of the Mountain?  That will be determined when expert skiers and snowboarders compete in the 4th annual one of a kind event that features four distinct disciplines in one race on Saturday, April 6th at Mt. Hood Skibowl.

“The winners of this unique race will earn the titles of King and Queen of the mountain and will have bragging rights – until next year’s race,” said Hans Wipper, public relations at Mt. Hood Skibowl.  “It is sure to be an exciting competition and a fun way to wrap up what has been a great season.”

The 1,500 vertical foot long course, starting at Skibowl Peak, will include elements to test the skill levels in all riding areas; free riding the Upper Bowl steeps, a speed trap where top speeds are clocked, a Giant Slalom course and finishing through the terrain park at the bottom of Skibowl West.

The cost to compete is $25.00 and the winning male and female competitor will each take home $1,000 and earn the title of King and Queen of the mountain in this winner-takes-all competition.  They will also receive a spot on the “wall of fame” in the Beer Stube.   Experienced riders only and helmets are required.

Registration is Saturday morning 8:30am to 9:30am.  Course inspection is from 9:00am to 10:00am with the race beginning immediately after. Contact Cara at cara@go.skibowl.com to register.
