Powder Alert! Heavy Snow Monday

Powder Alert! Heavy Snow Monday

2nd Powder Alert of the season for Mt. Hood Skibowl!

Heavy rain will change to heavy snow around 1-2am on the slopes Monday morning.

The details:

A cold front is just about to move over Mt. Hood at 11pm Sunday.  It's been raining heavily all day all the way up to 7,000', but that changes to all snow as the snow level drops to 2,000' by daybreak Monday.  Steady snow to snow showers Monday afternoon, then totally dry after sunset.

  • 6-10" is likely at Gov't Camp and the base area by Monday evening, most early in the day
  • 8-12" on the Upper Bowl by Monday evening

That's the good news; we'll get a fresh coating of snow on the mountain, then temps will plunge.  The rest of the week will feature HIGHS only 15-20 degrees at Govy!  Great for making snow and sunny days too.

The not so good news is that we don't see a wet pattern ahead.  Our unusually dry November looks to begin as a mainly dry December start.  I don't see any snow through next weekend unless we squeeze out some flurries next Saturday.
